I felt so old this evening when walking back from the liquor store, arms full of bottles, I overheard several groups of teenagers talking about booze they managed to procure for New Years Eve parties.  I remember those days and the thrill of illicit alcohol at parties. I almost wanted to start handing out bottles like a New Years Santa, but I doubt NYC teens would like bourbon and Greek brandy.

My recent drink of choice for this hot weather stems from the Hemingway book Islands in the Stream.  Here is the important except:
Thomas Hudson took a sip of the ice-cold drink that tasted of the fresh green lime juice mixed with the tasteless coconut water that was still so much more full-bodies than any charged water, strong with the real Gordon’s gin that made it alive to his tongue and rewarding to swallow, and all of it tautened by the bitters that gave it color.  It tastes as good as a drawing sail feel, he thought.  It is a hell of a good drink.
Called  “Tomini” by one character in the book, its essentially a sugarless Tom Collins with sweet coconut water. One of the all time most refreshing drinks Ive ever had. One source has a drink recipe as follows:
2 ounces of gin juice of one lime dash or two of Angostura bitters about 4 ounces of coconut water
Of course you can be as liberal with the ingredients as so desired.
